Pupil Leadership
At Edgware, we offer many opportunities for children to take on a leadership roles. We want to empower children to take ownership of their learning environment and develop essential life skills that extend far beyond the classroom.
"Resilient minds, kind hearts, bright futures".
We want our pupils to give to others ('kind hearts'), develop leadership skills and problem solving skills for now and the future so they can take on roles that make a difference in society ('resilient minds', 'bright futures').
When pupils are given leadership responsibilities they cultivate confidence, communication abilities, and decision-making skills that will serve them throughout their lives. This approach nurtures a sense of belonging and a deeper connection to the school community, as pupils feel genuinely valued and see the positive difference they can make to those around them. Pupil leadership fosters empathy and social responsibility, as our young leaders learn to consider diverse perspectives and work collaboratively to solve problems. Perhaps most importantly, we want to create an inclusive and democratic school culture where pupils don't just passively receive education but actively contribute to improving their school, developing the kind of engaged citizenship that strengthens society as a whole.
Leadership roles include:
- Primary Ambassadors
- First Aid Leaders
- Mental Health Ambassadors
- School Council
- PE Ambassadors
